Darbi and Jessie hit the ground running

It has been a fantastic start to the season for Nettleton rider Darbi Murphy and her horse Jessie, who took part in their first Pony Club Dengie Winter League Showjumping Qualifier hosted by Southwold North Pony Club at LRAC Kenwick.

The pair were last to go in the jump off and smashed the time by four seconds, winning the competition and qualifying for the Dengie Winter League Area Competition, to be held at Hargate Arena in Leicestershire.

“Jessie has come back after a well earned break raring to go,” said Darbi.

“However with all the bad weather it has been a struggle to keep her fit.”

Darbi and Jessie embark on their second year of the Lincolnshire Elite Athlete Programme (LEAP) - a Lincolnshire Sports Partnership initiative to help the region’s top young athletes recognise their aspirations.

”I am determined to do even better this year,” added Darbi, “and I am is still hopeful that I will be able to attract some local sponsorship to enable me to continue to compete.”
