A Market Rasen kickboxer has returned from the World Championships with two bronze medals.
Sophie Collinson travelled to Montreal in Canada for the competition to represent England in both points and continuous fights.
The 18-year-old from Jameson Bridge Street, who has been kickboxing for nine years, admitted the competition was a bit of a challenge having moved up to the adult section, but she had some good, exciting rounds and is now ranked third in the world in both fight categories.
Next up for Sophie is the European Championships to be held in Ireland next March, where she is already ranked third and hopes to improve on this.
Sophie trains locally several times a week and travels to Corby every other weekend with BCKA.
Her trip to Canada was self funded – with a host of fundraising events being held in the months leading up to the competition – and Sophie thanks everyone who supported her.
Now the work starts again to raise the money for the European Championships in March.
If anyone would like to sponsor Sophie, she can be contacted on 07743 172363.
