The first-ever Novice Puissance was won by Georgie Marriott on Murthwaite Boy Blue who cleared the wall at 142cm.

Cheered on by an excited crowd of spectators, the main puissance event saw 12 of the 13 riders complete the first round at 103cm, and seven riders made it through to the next round when the wall was raised to 145cm.

With every 12 to 15cm increase in height, one or more riders dropped out, until finally last year’s winner Joss Williams, on Sox, and Eoin Gallagher, on Lord Luidam, were left to battle it out over a whopping 184cm wall.

In the end both cleared the jump and decided to share the top prize between them.
