Market Rasen bowls: Grimsby pair net tournament spoils

A pair of out-of-towners won the 2016 annual Harry and Hillary Thornton Lawn Bowls Tournament earlier this month.

This year’s winners were Grimsby duo Bill O’Reilly and John Ward.

The Thorntons were long-time members of Market Rasen Lawn Bowls Club and established and sponsored the tournament several years ago.

After their passing the Thornton Tournament has been carried on and sponsored by their son Pete and daughter Susan who presented the trophy and prizes on Sunday.

The Kenny Briggs Tournament takes place at Market Rasen Bowls Club on Sunday, July 10 from 10am.
