Cold but sunny weather greeted karters from all over the north and the midlands when they converged on the old Strubby Airfield for round one of the Woodthorpe Kart Club 2016 championship.

Several new faces made their debut in the junior classes. Five-year-old Aimee Hartley, now starting her second season in the Bambinos section, took the third-place trophy back home to Cadwell.

Barton’s Jack Badley finished first in Mini-Max ahead of Louth’s Daniel Drury.

And David Darnborough, from Brinkhill, took top honours in the Junior-Max.

Louth driver Wayne Hutson’s earned his greatest success since starting karting.

He battled hard all day to secure his first winners’ trophy in the highly-competitive Senior-Max section.

Rob McFarlane dominated the super quick KZ125’s and Spilsby’s Chris Lake enjoyed third in only his first race in the class.
