FLAT TRACK: Market Rasen racers take on the best in the world this weekend

Fancy some high speed action this weekend? Then head down to The Great Indoors Flat Track event where there is plenty of local interest.

Market Rasen ex-road racer and current flat track star Peter Boast and Moto X and Flat Tracker Tim Greig, from Tealby, will both be in action at the event, held this Saturday, February 23, in Grantham.

Flat Track is the motorcycle sport that is all about rear wheel control and the one that many a GP rider like Nicky Haydena and Ben Bostrum, use to hone their skill on a bike and keep sharp during the off season, so it’s no surprise they’re all keen to have some fun indoors.

As well as the local interest, Ben Wilson and fellow Supersport riders Richard Cooper and Barry Burrell will be riding in the individual meeting at 6.30pm.

A fantastic field of international speedway riders including Coventry’s Edward Kennett, Aussies Kevin Doolan and Damien Koppe and Dane Mads Korneliusson, will be taking part in the England VS Rest of the World meeting at 1pm.

Throw into the mix Shorttrack UK’s own number one rider, Aidan Collins from the Collins speedway dynasty, 2012’s indoor winner Tom Neave, with brother Tom from Saxby and International Flat Track Champ Fabrizio Vesprini from Italy and it looks as though the action is hotting up.

The indoor equestrian arena first played host to ‘The Great Indoors’ in December and proved to be an amazing venue, with the tiered grandstand so close to the action that you can smell the fumes and see the whites of the riders eyes, if you have chance to pick them out during the action packed races.
