British Superbikes: Market Rasen riders eager for Knockhill return

The pair head north of the border to Knockhill, in Scotland, for the next round of the series.

O’Halloran took part in the British Superbike two-day test at Snetterton, in Norfolk, last week where he put in some fast laps on the Honda Racing Fireblade.

The Australian rider ended the test in a strong third place which has set him up nicely for the two races at Knockhill on Sunday.

“I finished the test in P3 with plenty of positives and can’t wait to go racing next weekend,” he said. “It’s been a long few weeks off.”

Kiyo, meanwhile, flew back to Japan for a couple of weeks to see his family and to recuperate following his crash at Brands Hatch in which he broke his collarbone.

His team, Halsall Racing, decided it would be better for Kiyo to remain in Japan for another week to focus on his recovery sooner than attend the Snetterton test.

Team owner Martin Halsall said: “We were hoping Kiyo might be fit for this, but with Knockhill so close, we decided it best not to risk it and give him some more recuperation time.”

On Friday there are two free practice sessions at 10.35am and 3.20pm with a third session on Saturday at 10am.

Qualifying takes place at 4.02pm and this will set the grid for the first race on Sunday.

The riders get a 15-minute warm-up prior to the first 30-lap race at 1.30pm on Sunday. The second race is due on track at 4.30pm.
