Two prestigious knock out tournaments are held each year at Market Rasen Golf Club for the Ladies’ section, the Manda Cup match play singles and the Lacey Rose bowl, which starts as a qualifying competition and the top four teams take part in two rounds of match play knockout to ascertain the winners.
This year the Manda Cup final was a really close contest between Bridget Holmes and Sue Archer - on the 19th hole Sue claimed victory.
The Lacey Rose Bowl was also hard fought between Barbara Chard and Sue Would and their opponents Lynne Patrick and Pam Ross.
The match was neck and neck over the whole round and in gloomy, dark conditions Lynne and Pam clinched the Trophy on the 17th winning 2 and 1.
This season of major competitions is drawing to a close and one of the final events was the Autumn Betterball Pairs open, which attracted entries from all over the county.
A total of 31 teams enjoyed playing in superb conditions on the course, excellent goodies served at the half way house and a delicious buffet to choose from completing the day.
And the winning team was Sue Guilliat and Gemma Cooling from Laceby Manor Golf Club with 42 points.
In second place was Pam Ross’s team with 39 points and in third place Jill Emerson (Seacroft) and Sylvia Mowbray (Market Rasen) also with 39 points.
Seven ladies successfully recorded twos on the course and nearest the pin on the 18th was driven by Jill Emerson.
The longest drives were recorded on the 9th fairway, the bronze division winner being Val Hale from Skidby Lane and the silver division winner was Heather Muir from Hessle.
Congratulations also go to Sylvia Mowbray who was part of the winning team at the Woodhall Spa Charity am am tournament held on the Hotchkin Course.
The winner of the Breakthrough brooch this year was Helen Grinham 93-21=72, with Sue Archer in second place 95-22=73 and Pauline Neal in third 97-20=77.
