BOTH of Caistor’s secondary schools have won gold medals at a sports competition.

Caistor Grammar School won a gold medal in the rugby and Caistor Yarborough Academy won a gold medal in wheelchair basketball at the Lincolnshire School Games.

More than 1,000 children, from years three to 13, took part in the competition at Lincoln Castle Academy and Yarborough Leisure Centre.

Lincolnshire Sports Partnership’s school games project officer, Gareth Short, said: “It was a fantastic day. The buzz and excitement around the whole event was amazing. All credit to the athletes involved when they were performing. Caistor Grammar and Caistor Yarborough really pushed themselves to succeed.”

The Lincolnshire School Games had sporting competitions in athletics, rugby, golf, hockey, table tennis, tennis, swimming, wheelchair basketball, new age kurling, boccia, rounders, cricket, futsal and netball.
