Young players from Market Rasen & Louth RFC played at Welford Road on Sunday, home of 10-time English champions Leicester Tigers.
The Market Rasen & Louth Under-10s were involved in the Super 16 stages of the Prima Tiger Cup ahead of kick-off in Leicester’s match against Montpellier in Europe’s Heineken Cup.
Paul Cowling, the under-10s coach, joined the young players on the pitch and said: “We’ve had a great game and, although we didn’t make it all the way through to the Prima Tiger Cup Finals, we can look forward to coming back for the Bowl.
“It’s been a great experience for all of us – the players, the coaches and the supporters.”
They lined up alongside teams representing Braintree, Haywards Heath, Kettering, Melbourne, Nottingham Corsairs, Nuneaton and Old Leamingtonians, and stayed to watch Tigers score a 41-32 win over their French visitors in a crucial European rugby tie.
The Prima Tiger Cup is enjoying its biggest-ever season with 70 teams entered for regional festivals before the Super 16 stages at Welford Road.
