Market Rasen and Louth Rugby Club’s 1st XV ran out emphatic winners against Grimsby 1st XV scoring over 50 points in Saturdays trial match.

The visitors were forced into kicking three penalties as their only means of registering points on the scoreboard.

The forward power of the red and green pack proved instrumental in demolishing any hopes the blues had of providing a close contest and whilst there were many area’s for improvement, the match enabled David Starling’s side to blow out the cobwebs prior to the forthcoming County Cup opener against Scunthorpe on Saturday away at Heslam Park at 3pm.

This match will prove a far sterner test for the Rasen side, with Scunthorpe playing in National League 3 Midlands.
