Market Rasen and Louth Rugby Club 2nd XV entertained local rivals Grimsby in this seasons inaugural fixture under the new leadership of captain Sam Routledge.

The red and greens ran out comfortable winners in this trial match defeating their opponents 32-0 with tries from Leigh Dearden, Mike Starling (in his last game for the club before joining Mellish Rugby Club), skipper Sam Routledge, two from Jack Dale and a final score from Josh Lawton with two conversions from Ryan Jordan and Josh Lawton.

Next week the 1st XV play a similar fixture at Willingham Road with the game against Grimsby 1st XV played in 4 x 20 minute sessions, enabling coach Rhuari Pike and captain David Starling to determine the squad for the County Cup match to be played away against Scunthorpe on Saturday August 30.
