On a blustery afternoon, reminiscent of the conditions on their previous visit last year, Melton Mowbray came to Willingham Road looking to put a dent in Rasen’s league title credentials.

After an early fumble, the red and green pack were soon into their stride as they kept control of the ball and drove their Leicestershire visitors deep into their own twenty-two.

Melton Mowbray conceded an early penalty, but Rasen kept up their momentum by taking a quick tap and subjecting their opponents to more defensive duties.

In the eighth minute Melton conceded a penalty in a kickable position, but unfortunately Matt Neesham was unable to master the tricky wind and the forwards efforts went unrewarded.
