Ladies from Market Rasen Golf Club were celebrating last week after clinching a brilliant league title and promotion.

The Rasen A team of Jane Salt, Jenny Brundle, Rebecca Ross, Ann Todd, Pam Ross, Sharman Scott and Sue Borthwick finished top of North Lincolnshire League Division Two and will play in Division One North next season.

* Last Wednesday, Market Rasen’s ladies’ section played a greensomes stableford for the Marshall Trophy.

Rebecca Ross and club president Joan Woodcock beat Sylvia Mowbray and Ruth Anyan on countback to win with 35 points.

The charity competition saw all entry fees go to the winners’ chosen charity, as well as proceeds from the ‘three putting fund’, run by Joan Woodcock.

The ladies are asked to estimate how many times they have three-putted during the year and contribute accordingly, and this year’s amount will total more than £200.

Rebecca and Joan will donate the money to Alzheimer’s Research, a cause close to both of their hearts.

Immediate past captain Ann Todd recorded a hole-in-one at an open competition at Carholme Golf Club, Lincoln, last week.

* Neil Baxter landed the Junior Cup after beating Danny Mellor in the final of the knockout competition for players with handicaps of 19 and above.

The losing semi-finalists were Michael Archer and Andy Platt.
