Rasen golfers hit top gear

GOLFERS in our region were on top form at the Market Rasen and District Golf Club Competition.

The Torrens Bowl is one of the few Stableford Competitions at Market Rasen and it was very well supported and keenly contested.

Junior Players have been very successful so far this season and this was no exception.

Doing his bit for the more mature golfers, Ray Joyce took third place with 39 points.

Bob Davison is enjoying a superb run of form and to follow up his success in the Audi Trophy he took runner-up position with 40 points.

Despite their efforts, there was no stopping another Junior. Allround sportsman William Sutton confirmed his prowess at golf by winning with 41 points.

The following weekend the Carter Cup Foursome Medal Competition took place. The gross prize went to Ben Hinchliffe and Dave Ashworth with 80.

Second place in the net competition went to Caistor’s Rick Sandham and Mick Reilly with 69.5 after a countback and the winners by a remarkable 4.5 shots were Mark Codd and Marcus Lowne.
