One shot separates top three golfers

TWO men’s competitions have been held over the past weekends at Market Rasen Golf Club.

The first three in the Rover Cup were separated by one shot, with Ken Day (15 handicap) finishing third with a nett score of 66.

John Doughty (14) followed up his win in an earlier competition with a splendid 65, but was beaten on count-back by Jack Robinson.

The gross competition was won by Roy Knowles with a gross 73.

Roy has already won the Club Championship and the best gross score in the Open competition and is the Club’s best player at the moment.

He continued his excellent form and recorded a 73 to win the gross prize in the Porter Pot held last weekend.

Yet again, the first three in the nett competition were separated by one shot!

Horncastle’s Bob Pickering (18) recorded a score of 66 to finish third on count-back behind new member Richard Marshall (16).

Mark Codd had already won the Ford Cup in April when playing off 14 handicap and despite being docked three shots, he still managed to secure victory and the Porter Pot, with a round of 65 and has had his handicap reduced to 10.
