THE first two races in a new £250,000 championship for racehorses in Britain will be run at Market Rasen Racecourse tomorrow (Thursday).
Jockey Club Racecourses - to which the town’s racecourse belongs - will host the Betfair Jumps Series, that will culminate in two £50,000 finals next Easter.
Thursday’s races at Market Rasen include a 2m5f handicap hurdle and a 2m6f handicap chase.
The track will also host another of the qualifying races at what is traditionally its most popular fixture of the year - on Boxing Day.
Pip Kirkby, managing director, at Market Rasen Racecourse, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to host the first two races in the new Betfair Jumps Series which is supporting the grass roots of jump racing.”
Gates open at the racecourse at 11am on Thursday. The first race is at 12.45pm.
