Market Rasen racer Gary Carver, with co-driver Michael Rust, debuted their Subaru Legacy at the Border Motor Club rally at Cadwell Park on Sunday.

Gary has been building this car for around seven years, but spent most of the first stage with a fire underneath the car.

This didn’t do any serious damage, and having repaired the offending pipe, completed all 10 stages to record a finish, sorting out minor problems as he went along and testing the car for future events.

Colin Barber from Bigby was co-driven by his son Nigel, in the Vauxhall Astra that is normally driven by Nigel.

Colin regularly competed at Cadwell Park in an Astra when South Bank Motor Club ran events there in the 80s and 90s.

Gary and Michael were 25th in the Class E group. Colin and Nigel were 13th in the Class C.
