Fresh from his success at the Ulster GP Market Rasen racer Phil Crowe rode a fine race as a wild card entrant in the National Superstock 1000 race at Cadwell Park on Bank Holiday Monday.
Despite a small crash during qualifying Phil secured an eighth row start to his race in 27th place. He got away to a good start and soon began to make progress through the field taking up 21st place on lap five of the planned 15.
But as the race progressed he fell back to 25th and had just moved back into 24th position when the red flag halted the race on lap 10. Because two thirds distance had been completed a result was declared with Phil being awarded 24th place.
He said: “I was up against it having to adjust to Pirelli tyres but we progressed in every session and I was looking good for final qualifying.
“But I missed a gear and suffered a small crash at Barn Corner which left me back in 27th place so started the race from the eighth row. I knew I was not going to win the race so although I would have preferred to have been a little further up the grid I did at least finish my race and I have to be happy with that.”
