Men still seeking their first win

BRIGG Hockey Club Mens 1st team have had a disappointing start to their season in the Yorkshire Premier League and still seek their first win.

The 2nd team also struggle, but the 3rd and 4th teams have made fine starts in their respective leagues.

Brigg 1st let a 2-0 lead over Ben Rhydding from Ilkley slip in their home game at The Pods and had to be content with a single point. Captain Andy Dixon and Ollie Reid were Brigg’s scorers.

Then Brigg 1st travelled to Sheffield Hallam and went down 2-1 in what was their best performance of the season. Their cause was not helped when Harry Cadwallader was sent off in the second half.

Andrew Reid was Brigg’s scorer and he also took man of the match honours.

Brigg 2nds are pointless in Division 2 after four straight defeats and went down 3-0 at Leeds 3rd, giving away all the goals in a disastrous five minute spell in the first half.

Brigg 3rds top Division 5 South, their latest win coming by 4-0 at home to Hallam. Phil Dewfall notched two goals while newcomer Zac Macdonald was also on the mark.

There was a brace as well for 4th team striker Andy Whytock as his side went in to second place in Division 7 North after a 3-0 win over Normanby Park 2nd team. James High was the other scorer.
