Last Wednesday’s ladies’ stableford betterball competition for the Lacey Rose Bowl produced some fantastic scoring with 14 pairs playing better than handicap.
Gill Kent and Ruth Anyan topped the field with 45 points, edging Joy Purkiss and Helen Wilson (43) into second. Tilly Lawrence and Di Warburton were third, also with 43, and Helen Gibbard and Jenny Brundle were a point further back in fourth.
The ladies will now enter a matchball play-off to decide who will win the Rose Bowl.
A further four teams also scored 40 points and did not make the play-offs.
* Helen Gibbard won the EWGA Medal at Market Rasen GC in fine style with a nett score of 66 (99-33).
Joy Purkiss (95-23=72) was six shots back in second, while third position went to Helen Wilson with 104-30=74.
Denise Hall finished top of the class in the nine-hole stableford qualifier with 14 points.
* Club professional Joel Cant sponsored last month’s ladies’ stableford competition and presented the prizes after this popular event.
Jackie Parker earned a well-deserved handicap reduction to 26 after winning with 38 points.
She finshed three clear of Lynn Patrick who took second place with 35 on countback from Sharman Scott.
