Market Rasen golf: Baker pips captain to Newstead Trophy

The ladies of Market Rasen Golf Club have had a busy start to the month.

The Newstead Trophy was played as a bogey competition where golfers play the course. The winner with a good score of -1 was Jade Baker who just beat lady captain Helen Grinham (-2), while Tilly Lawrence, on -3, completed the top three places.

* The Lacey Rose Bowl first round was played last week with the top four pairs going through to the knockouts

The top three pairs all shot 42 points - Lynn Patrick with Pam Ross, Helen Grinham and Sylvia Mowbray, and Helen Gibbard with Barbara Laing.

Helen Wilson and her partner Sue Archer took the final qualifying place with 41 points.

* The A team had two matches last month, the first at home to Kenwick Park which was halved, two matches each.

Rasen ladies then failed to pick up a win, at Cleethorpes, losing 4-0.
