DESPITE torrential rain the Ford Cup Competition went ahead thanks to the efforts of the green staff at Market Rasen and District Golf Club.
Yet again, the younger players were to the fore and made light work of the heavy conditions
Thirteen-year-old Luke Parkinson is beginning to reach the potential he showed in golf “minis” competitions and won with a nett round of 65 off 12 handicap.
James Fussey featured yet again, but had to be content with second place with a nett 66 off the same handicap, and Roger Codd finished third on count-back with a 69 off 9 handicap.
The prize for the best score in the 19 - 28 handicap category went to Pete Nash, with a nett 75 off 22 handicap.
The gross prize was won by new member Jamie Thorpe, with a round of 74. Jamie, who plays off 1, is one of several young single figure handicap golfers who have taken advantage of Market Rasen’s competitive membership rates to join the club this year.
