A North Willingham golfer has taken another step towards representing Great Britain in World’s largest amateur golf competition
Adrian Bothamley, and his playing partner Simon Elkington from Boston, have claimed a place in the Audi quattro Cup UK Final after coming third in a regional final held at The Belfry Golf Club in Warwickshire.
Twenty-eight pairs of amateur golfers contested the 18-hole competition having earned a Regional Final place by means of a top placing in one of over 30 qualifying tournaments staged since April.
The pairing will join the eight other amateur golfers, plus the top-five pairs from a further two regional events, to contest the final at Bowood Golf & Country Club, near Calne in Wiltshire, on September 15.
Ultimately two pairs will go on to represent Great Britain and compete in the Audi quattro Cup World Final staged at The Mission Hills Resort in China in November.
The Audi quattro Cup, being staged for the 21st year, is the world’s largest amateur golf competition with almost 80,000 players from over 50 countries expected to compete for a place in the week-long World Final.
