THE ladies of Market Rasen have been enjoying a full programme of fun winter competitions to keep them on course throughout the off season.

Teams of three players played a yellow ball format. The winners, by six clear points were Tilly Lawrence, Marilyn Tompkins (Lady Captain) and Gill Kent with 75 points. In second place were Sue Lambert, Margaret Rylatt and June Dolan, with Wendy Harrison, Jackie Parker and Judy Phillips in third place.

Yellows Tees competition, a stableford format played off the challenge of the men’s tee position but with an additional handicap allowance, proved a winner for Rebecca Ross with 51 points from Sue Lambert on countback, with Gill Kent in third with 50 points.

Next came Iron Woman, played in miserable conditions. But this didn’t hamper the outright winner Helen Wilson, who scored 37 points. In second place came Jenny Holborn, with 30 from Jane Wiles on countback.

It was back to team work for the Ash Wednesday Waltz. Again playing well in a team of three was Lady Captain Marilyn Tompkins, but this time with Jenny Brundle and Rosemarie Lawton, who won with 66 points. Jackie Parker, Di Newton and Gill Kent were second with 63, followed by Rhona Bradford, Helen Grinham and Leslie Brewis with 62.

The first Qualifying Stableford of the new season was played on March 16. Rosemarie Lawton played well to secure top spot with 35 points.
