Market Rasen and District Golf club Ladies section held their annual am am, with lady golfers across the county and beyond keen to take part.

Teams have to be prompt when submitting their entry forms in January to ensure a tee time as the event is always over subscribed.

Ladies playing in the morning enjoyed comfortable conditions, however ladies who had a tee time in the afternoon had to battle with heavy rain making clubs slippery

But this proved not to daunt the hardy ladies, as the best scores were recorded in the afternoon.

This year, the winning team included ladies from Market Rasen and Canwick Park - Mel Gregory, Lotta Brewer, Sue Smith and Mary Fryer with 86 points.

In second place were Cindy Ireland, Lincolnshire Ladies Captain, Jan Heywood, Christine Budge and Joan Payling, from Blankney, on 82 points, while in third were Ruth Watson, Annie Hilton, Tina Benner and Diane Revill, from Rufford Park and Grassmoor, also on 82 points and the Market Rasen team of Ann Todd, Hefina Brumpton, Elizabeth Wride and Bridget Holmes came in fourth on 79 points.

The straightest drive on the 6th went to Keran Hutchinson of Retford and nearest the pin on the 18th was Mary Chester of Hessle with 2m 60cm.

Following her success in the am am, Mel Gregory returned another good score to win the Sanders Salver the next week.

She played six shots below her handicap, with a gross 93 - nett 66 and a handicap reduction.

In second place was Helen Grinham, gross 91- nett 71.

The lowest gross Silver division winner was Sue Borthwick, 88 gross, and the Lowest Gross Bronze division winner was Sharman Scott, gross 94.
