THE deadline to apply for funding for children and young people’s sports projects in Lincolnshire is drawing near.
Almost £400,000 is available for sports projects in the county through a national Sport England project called Sportivate, and the next deadline is Friday, August 19.
It hopes to use the London 2012 Games to encourage “semi-sporty” teenagers and young adults to take part in sport over the next four years.
Lincolnshire Sports Partnership has £395,000 to allocate to Sportivate projects between July 2011 and May 2015, and sports clubs and organisations are encouraged to apply.
The overall aim of Sportivate is for 300,000 participants aged 14 – 25 to complete weekly sessions over the four years.
Sports clubs, schools, community groups, NGBs, local authorities, universities, youth clubs, sixth forms and further educational colleges, leisure facilities and workplaces targeting 14 – 25 year olds can all apply.
