Brigg Hockey Club Mens 1st team went down to Kingston Upon Hull 3-1 in their North 2 League 2 encounter at Hull.

It was a game of two halves so far as Brigg were concerned, as having taken a 1-0 lead early in the game through striker Andrew Reid.

Brigg’s early form fell away in the second half as Hull rallied and scored three times to send Brigg home empty handed.

Brigg were well on top in the opening 20 minutes and Reid’s goal came when he broke through and lifted his shot neatly over the Hull keeper.

Hull levelled things before the half time break and then scored at a short corner and then in a breakaway move to make it 3-1.

Brigg will be disappointed with the defeat, which leaves them next to bottom of the league with only one point and only Doncaster below them.

A gap has now opened up between Brigg and the teams above them and without injured skipper Andy Reid, Joe Hastings and Tom North from last year’s promotion winning team, Brigg, even at this early stage in the season, look increasingly likely to be facing a relegation fight.

Brigg Mens 2nds had a 5-1 win over bottom of the table Huddersfield 3rds in Yorkshire League Division 2.

Goals came from David Baggott (2), Andrew Norris,Nick Beacock and Sam Crooks.

Table topping Brigg 3rds in Division 5 South suffered a setback when they lost 4-1 to Leeds Adel 6th with Patrick Coburn being the scorer.

Brigg 4ths were soundly beaten 8-0 by Leeds 6th away in Division 6 South.
