Brigg Hockey Club Mens 1st team gained their first point of the season in North League 2 when they drew at home with Doncaster.
It was a game which Brigg should have won easily but can only blame themselves for missing far too many chances when well on top in terms of possession.
Brigg have suffered a major setback with the loss of skipper Andy Dixon for the season due to a knee injury. Ben Treadgold from North Kelsey took over the captaincy for the game and he gave a man of the match performance in central midfield.
Brigg made a promising start and dominated the first 15 minutes only to go behind in what was the first real Doncaster attack on the Brigg goal.
The goal also came rather fortuitously through a deflected shot. That proved the only goal of the first half, but Brigg went further in arrears as they conceded again just after the break. A mistake at the back allowed the Doncaster striker to break clear and convert without too much trouble.
Brigg were looking at their fourth successive defeat of the season at this stage but quickly pulled a goal back in a scramble near the goal line with Andrew Reid converting.
Then another scrambled effort saw Andrew Morris net from close quarters with a shot into the top corner. Brigg were dominating at this stage and had further chances to grab all three points, but could not take advantage.
This Saturday the 1st team are away at Lincoln Roses in the league and at home to the same opposition in the HA Trophy on Sunday.
Brigg Mens 2nds lost 4-5 away at Leeds Adel 2nd, Brigg 3rds won 5-2 against Hull University and Brigg 4th lost 3-0 to Leeds Gryphons.
