LINCOLNSHIRE took the title to become National County Champions at the final held at Thorndon Park Essex.

This is the first time Lincolnshire have ever won the County Final in its 120 year history.

It was a gruelling schedule over five days, playing foursomes in the morning and singles in the afternoon each day.

The girls played some incredible golf to win Hertfordshire on the first day 8-1.

This gave them a great boost and they then went on to win on the second day against Northampton 9-0. Lancashire proved more difficult, but again a great win 6-3.

A nail biting finish on day four with the last putt on the last hole taking them to victory against Sussex. They only needed half a point going into the final day and won against Gloucestshire 6-3.

There was some outstanding golf played with Jess Wilcox from Blankney winning all her singles matches in magnificent style.

Helen Hewlett and Holly Clyburn winning all their foursomes games, both Emilee Taylor and Sophie Bearsdall being undefeated in their singles together with Helen Mc Dougall.

Emily Slater, aged 14, made her debut in the team and won her match together with Emma Tippings, who won four out of five of her foursomes matches.

This really was a triumphant week for Lincolnshire, ably lead by County Captain Julia Sales together with Vice Captain Cindy Ireland.
