Market Rasen Golf Club’s men’s Captain Roy Knowles led 44 members to Oakmere Park Golf Club in Nottinghamshire for his away day.

The weather forecast was dreadful in the days leading up to the event, but thankfully the weather forecasters proved to be as unreliable as ever and apart from a couple of brief light showers the day was fine.

Everyone was treated to a lovely course in great condition, with some interesting and unique holes.

Roy decreed it was a stableford competition, with a search for the worst putter incorporated into the proceedings.

After sampling the course, it was time to sample the club’s excellent catering delights, before returning by coach to Market Rasen.

Winner of the golf competition was Ady Sawyer with 40 points.

Pete Nash was runner-up with 39 points and Dick Holmes third with 38 points.

The team prize went to John Boulton, Ady Sawyer, Colin Law and Frank Waterman.

The title of worst putter went to Rick Everett, after a left-handed putt off.
