Market Rasen Ladies were delighted to entertain the ‘Hookers’ Golf Society recently.

In the presence of County Captain Cindy Ireland and County Handicap Secretary Terry Macarthy, 26 Market Rasen Ladies and fellow golfers from Owmby, Blankney, Woodhall, Kenwick and Torksey braved the chilly weather to compete in a better ball competition.

The event, masterminded by Diane Newton and proved to be great fun and very successful.

Alongside the golf, various fun pitching and putting competitions and tombola help raise £300 for Alzheimer’s Research.

The winning pair in the golf competition with a score of 40 points was Rosemarie Lawton and Jenny Holborn.

Jenny Holborn also won nearest the pin in two shots on the 8th and Hefina Brumpton won nearest the pin on the 18th.

Last month 32 intrepid lady golfers had freezing conditions and a fall of snow to contend with while playing a yellow ball competition.

The winning team of R Lawton, V Sullivan and S Would achieved a very good score of 72 points.

Thanks go to L Moore for providing some much appreciated prizes.

The competition was followed by an entertaining golf rules quiz. Mrs S Borthwick was the quiz master. J Brundle, M Kerr, H Brumpton and Sylvia Mowbray were the victors.

The quiz raised £40.13 for the Lady’s Captain’s charity which is Macmillan Lincolnshire.
