Beautiful weather once again helped to make the Ladies section of Market Rasen and District Golf club Am Am a tremendous success.

This event is always over subscribed as golfers around the county are keen to play on this lovely course, enjoy Janet’s buffet meal and the refreshments provided in the half way house by the Ladies, which are renowned for their quality.

And in a field of more than 200 golfers from 20 different clubs, a home team of Jackie Parker, Sue Borthwick, Kim Robinson and Jenny Holborn took the top spot with an excellent score of 88 points. The team was only put together at the last minute to cover injuries and no shows.

Another home team - comprising of Sue Archer, Barbara Chard, Chris Joyce and Lynne Patrick - took second place on 86 points and third place was claimed by J Godfrey, M Tansey, S Smith and P Stageman with 82 points.

Another great day at Market Rasen with the course playing long and the rough taking no prisoners.

And judging by the noise in the club house all day, a good time was had by all.

Other recent events saw Jane Salt play a fantastic round of golf while competing for the Sanders Trophy.

She played in great style scoring her best round ever, winning with a spectacular nett 63 gross 78.

Since returning to golf, Jane’s goal has been to reduce her handicap to below 14 which was the handicap she held in her teens.

Following her superb round, which included an amazing birdie three on the challenging 10th, her handicap was reduced from 15 to 12.

The Mossop Cup, a Stableford competition, found Sue Borthwick still maintaining excellent form scoring 39 points having taken 79 shots to complete her round with birdies on the 1st and 16th, to win the competition.

Following assessment of previous cards, Sue’s handicap has been cut to 8.

In second place was Jackie Parker with 36 points and third place was claimed by Sylvia Mowbray with 33 points.
