De Aston School athletes excel at county championships

De Aston School students went to Boston to compete in the Lincolnshire Schools’ Athletics Championships, representing the Coastal and Wolds Superzone.

Milly Williams (Year 11) finished second in the intermediate girls’ javelin and fifth in the intermediate girls’ discus, while Lauren Graham (Year 8) came second in the junior girls’ discus.

Year 11 pupil Rhiannon Troop achieved third position in the intermediate girls’ 1500m final, and Eleanor Horton (Year 8) finished seventh in the junior girls’ 200m final.

PE teacher Leanne Biggs said: “All of the girls did exceptionally well on what was a very windy day, particularly the throwers as a lot of athletes were recording no-throws in the terrible conditions.”

Milly, Lauren and Rhiannon were selected to go on to represent Lincolnshire in Peterborough.

At that event, Milly recorded a fine fifth position in the intermediate girls’ javelin, Rhiannon came eighth in the intermediate girls’ 1500m, and Lauren finished eighth in the junior girls’ discus.
