MARKET Rasen Ladies Section hosted yet another very successful am-am recently.

Always a very popular fixture on the golfing calendar, 43 teams of four ladies took part, the first teams having an early start with an 8am tee-off all the way through until 3pm.

Most of the day remained very warm and humid with thunder threatening in the distance, however the rain held off until early evening and only the last five teams got wet.

The winners were a team made up of Owmby/Woodhall Spa and Market Rasen ladies, consisting of Jane Wilden, Jane Salt, Ruth Anyan and Barbara Laing with their fantastic score of 87. In second place were J Bratley, J Markham, C Needham and M Hardy (Boston) on 84 and in third were Tilly Lawrence, Lorna Moore, Sharman Scott and Dawn Beveridge, a mixed team from Market Rasen and Lincoln, on 83 from A Edwards, P le Voi, L Double and M McArdle from Peterborough and Spalding.

Straightest Drive went to Veronica Rise of Belton Park and the Longest Drive to Bev Palfreyman of Pottergate on the 15th.

Nearest Pin in two on the par 4 was won by Yvonne Cook of Ashby Decoy on the 8th (eagle 2nd shot) and Nearest Pine on the 18th was H Muir of Hessle, 22½ inches.

Proceeds for the day will be forwarded to the Lady Captain’s charity of the year, which is Lincoln Women’s Refuge.
