A field of 84 players competed for the Fred Broddle Memorial Trophy at Caistor Bowls Club on Sunday.

The final result was decided on the last end of the last session of the day when a four-shot difference saw two Caistor teams see off some spirited opposition.

The Broddle family narrowly missed getting their hands on the trophy as JM Broddle, with S. Wood and P. Marriott, were pipped by winners B. Stedman, W. Jacobs and T. Wallice.

The winning team was presented with the trophy by Louise Broddle, the grand-daughter of former Caistor Bowls Club chairman Fred.

All of the players thanked the club’s catering corps and green keepers as well as event organisers G. Hewson and G. Wood.
