It was another disappointing weekend for Japanese rider Ryuichi Kiyonari at the penultimate round of the MCE British Superbike championship last weekend.

The Market Rasen-based rider failed to finish the first race and then finished 16th in the second encounter at Silverstone.

Kiyo qualified the Buildbase BMW in 17th place to start the first 14-lap race from the sixth row, but a bad start left him floundering down in 24th place on the first lap.

He then mounted a comeback and by lap seven he was up to 19th only to pull into the pits one lap later to retire.

Starting the second encounter from the sixth row, Kiyo got a better start and lay 17th on the first lap.

He made steady progress to complete the 14 laps in 16th place, although it was not quite good enough to score championship points.

The final round is at Brands Hatch over the weekend of October 16 to 18 when Kiyo will have three races to contest in the run-up to the end of the season.
