Market Rasen-based riders Ryuichi Kiyonari and Jason O’Halloran head to Snetterton this weekend for the next round of the British Superbikes Championship.

Kiyo should be feeling more like his old self after a further two weeks’ rest to allow his collarbone to heal and he will be raring to go on the Norfolk circuit he has scored well at in the past.

Riding his Halsall Racing Suzuki, the Japanese racer will be hoping for a return to form and to step onto the podium once again.

He missed the official test at the circuit last month and remained in Japan for a further week to rest his injury, but Kiyo has ridden here many times and should soon be on the pace.

O’Halloran, meanwhile, will be seeking his first pole position having missed out on the milestone by just one thousandth of a second at Knockhill in the last round.

He is also anxious to get his next round started.

“It was a long journey home from Knockhill and it’s been an even longer week,” he said.

The weekend begins with two free practice sessions on Friday at 10.15am and 3.15pm followed by the final free practice at 10.45am on Saturday. Three-stage qualifying starts at 4.02pm on Saturday with the final session for the fastest nine riders setting the grid for Sunday’s opening race.

There is a short warm-up on Sunday at 9.15am before the first 16-lap race which goes off at 1pm. The fastest lap times in race one set the grid for the second 16-lap affair which is due on track at 4.40pm.

Qualifying and both races are scheduled to be televised live on British Eurosport 2.
