Bright start for the ladies

The ladies of Market Rasen are well in to their new season and on Wednesday, April 13 the Australian Spoons competition for the bronze players was contested. Playing in pairs the winners were Ruth Anyan and Gill Kent with a great score of 39 points.

They will represent the club at Oxley Park Golf Club in Staffordshire on June 6 at the regional finals.

In second place was new member Helen Grinham with Joan Zealand on 38 points, third Joan Lacey and Mavis Tomkins with 37 and fourth Lorna Moore and Sharman Scott with 34.

On Wednesday, April 20, the ladies played for the Abraham Trophy, a qualifying stableford.

Helen Wilson was the outstanding winner with a score of 47 points and earning a well deserved handicap reduction.

In second place Jenny Taylor, a new country member, on 43 points and obviously enjoying her stay in Market Rasen.

Third was Gill Kent with 39 points, playing well for second week running and fourth Helen Grinham with 37 points.

The A team kicked off their league campaign with a home match against Seacroft Ladies and were happy to record a win for all the home pairings.
