After a spell of indifferent weather leading up to the match, things did brighten up for Market Rasen’s anglers leaving the 14 competitors that made the draw in an optimistic mood that the fish would be feeding.
The competition being fished was for the annual charity Renal Cup where half of the anglers entry fees are donate to the Lincoln Renal Unit.
The all-in was at 9am and after a five hour match it was Stuart Cash fishing the feeder from peg 18 that weighed in with 7lb 9oz to claim the trophy, Stuart’s catch was made up of some nice bream.
Second place went to Neil Bridgewater fishing the waggler from peg 30 with a weight of 5lb 9oz, Neil did have in is catch a crucian carp that was over the 2lb mark.
The final place went to Barry De’Ath fishing both the feeder and pole from peg 2 with a weight of 3lb 14oz.
After the payout was made to the top three anglers, the anglers raised £70 from the match as a donation to the Lincoln Renal Unit.
The next match in the calendar sees the members fishing the second leg of the Jackson Builders Merchant Aggregate Shield, and also for the Chairman’s Cup, on Thursday, June 6, which also sees the junior club section commence with their summer matches starting with the Junior Hall 1st leg.
