Season-best figures from Rasen captain Matt Rutherford helped the First XI complete the Lincs ECB Premier League double over Grimsby on Saturday.
Powerhouse Dale Christie later hit four successive sixes to steer the visitors to a comfortable six-wicket win after career at Augusta Street.
Starting the day in mid-table, Rasen were looking to repeat their early season victory and widen the gap on the bottom two.
Winning the toss, Rutherford put Grimsby into bat and applied early pressure on a dry wicket. The hosts began with purpose and soon took the score to 33 before James Fussey had Jack Harrison caught for 14.
The medium pacer soon had his second wicket as Callum Robinson couldn’t detect the swing and lost his middle stump.
A third wicket stand took Grimsby to 62 before Paul Martin’s hard work paid off, claiming the vital wicket of opener Joe Farmery.
Rutherford then produced a devastating display of spin bowling as Grimsby lost their final seven wickets for 60 runs.
His exemplary figures of 7 for 24 from 10.2 overs included an unprecedented three caught and bowled victims as the home side were bowled out for 126 in 34.2 overs Grimsby.
Will Bradford and Seb Darke set about the reply admirably in the face of some hostile bowling. Seemingly undeterred by the constant chatter from the home team, the openers put on 49 runs before Bradford was dismissed on 30.
Rasen’s careful and measured batting was exemplified by Liam Scales, first building a partnership with Seb, and then Christie to steer Rasen towards their target.
With the score standing at 80-2, Christie began his assault, scoring four consecutive maximums from the first four balls of the over to quieten the home team to a low murmur.
Rasen lost two further wickets before reaching the total in 33 overs and claiming the maximum 20 points from the game.
