Market Rasen battle to draw at title challenging Woodhall Spa

Market Rasen hung on for their first draw of the season in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League on Saturday.

Their opponents, title challengers Woodhall Spa, recorded the league’s top team total of the day with 267-7, largely thanks to top scorer Malinga Bandara (75), Sam Evison (53) and Etienne Botha (54).

Rasen First XI skipper Matt Rutherford took his season’s total of wickets to 47 with a haul of five for 73 and hit 47 as his side closed on 131-9.

Rasen sit seventh, 21 points clear of the bottom two and host bottom side Spalding on Saturday from noon.
