Johnson to ride for Suzuki in 2010

GARY Johnson from Broughton near Brigg is to race for AIM Suzuki during the 2010 season and will contest the major road races plus the British Superbike championship where it is likely he will ride in the new Evo section of the series.

On the roads Johnson will once again contest the North West 200 races in Northern Ireland in May plus the Isle of Man TT races in June where last year he gained his best result to date, finishing third in the high profile Senior TT and the Ulster Grand Prix in August, rounding off his season with the Macau GP in November.

Johnson is expected to ride in the Superbike and Superstock events at the TT and Northwest 200 for AIM Suzuki but will contest the Supersport races for the Rev2Race East Coast Construction team with whom he will also race in the Supersport class at the North West 200 and the Ulster Grand Prix.

"I have been having a lot of treatment on my damaged knee throughout the winter and am now 100 per cent fit and ready for the challenge" said Johnson.

"Having ridden for Alistair Flanagan and the AIM team at Macau in November I feel I know the team well and we work well together so I am really looking forward to the new season.

"To ride in the new Evo championship is a great opportunity for me. I want to get some good results for the team in the first year of Evo but it is also a great chance for me to get the track time and develop the bike. In terms of BSB we have our fingers crossed for a good season and I think we have as good a chance as anyone to go out there and have a good shot at the first Evo title.

"We have a lot of pre-season testing planned so we will certainly be ready and all prepared for the first race at Brands Hatch at Easter."

The North West 200 races are scheduled for Saturday, May 15 with a full programme of events taking place during the week running up to race day and practice sessions will take place on Tuesday, May 11 and Thursday, May 13.

The TT festival is from Saturday, June 5 to Friday June 11 preceded by a week of practice from May 31.

The Ulster GP is set for mid-August and the Macau GP is in mid-November.
