Brigg moves to number two spot in league

Brigg Hockey Club Mens 1st team climbed to second place in the Yorkshire Premier League with a 4-2 win at Sheffield Hallam.

Brigg cruised into an easy three-goal lead by the time the half time whistle arrived, with keeper Colin Lattimer having little to do in goal.

Brigg got complacent after the break and allowed the Sheffield side to come back into the game with two goals of their own, though Brigg did manage to add a fourth.

Brigg’s scorers were the prolific Andrew Morris with a brace, the others cominmg from Harry Cadwallader and Andrew Reid.

The game was the fourth win on the trot for Brigg, who beat Grimsby 5-0 the previous weekend and also came away from Sheffield Unversity with a narrow 3-2 win.

Morris, Andrew Reid and sam Crooks netted the goals against Grimsby - meaning four goals from two games for Morris.

Brigg 2nds went down 2-1 at home to City of York, with Chris Bradley scoring Brigg’s only goal.

The 3rd team lost to Sheffield Hallam 3-1 at The Podds.
