Croft doubles up with succesive weekend wins at Rasen.
SEVERAL Men’s Competitions postponed by Market Rasen Golf Club earlier in the year due to the wet conditions have now been played.
It is not often a player wins two competitions on successive weekends, but Colin Croft has done just that.
The A.M. Chester Prize attracted an entry of just over 100 and three nett and three gross prizes were awarded.
The weather was fine and warm and Neil Carmichael won the gross competition with 77, just one shot ahead of Tom Bean and Liam Beardsley, who were separated on count-back for the minor places.
The nett competition was equally close, with Dave Garland (handicap 13) beating Merv Price (15) on count-back to take second place with 68.
However, Colin Croft (16) came in late in the day with a nett 67 to take the prize by one shot.
Colin started the Rover Cup the following weekend playing off 15 handicap and the weather and course conditions obviously suit his game.
He again carded an excellent 67 to win the competition and a further handicap reduction, with Robert Lancaster (10) in second on 68.
Third place was only separated on count-back - a bit of a family affair - and this time it was young Kieran Baker’s turn to get in the prizes and beat his father on count-back with a score of 69.
This was a good effort by Kieran, whose club handicap is 22 and the maximum handicap allowance for the competition was 18.
Tom Bean improved on the previous week to win the gross prize with an excellent 72.
