Busy month of golf for Owmby ladies

OWMBY Golf Club Ladies Section has had a busy month of competitions.

Monday September 10 saw Owmby Ladies hold their annual Ladies Day Competition. The format was four ball betterball stableford played at three quarter handicap.

The match commenced with a shotgun start and after a great competition, the winning team was Gill Gladwin and Chris Dawkins with a score of 45 stableford points. Runners up were the team of Di Warburton and Julia Sales on 39 stableford points. Julia Sales took the prize for the longest drive.

June Gauke had a great day by winning both the 2’s competition and the nearest the pin competition.

The eighth medal of the season concluded with the winner being Di Warburton, with a net 66, and Di Newton as runner-up, with a net 71.

Di Warburton also won the EWGA Stableford competition, with 38 stableford points, and the runner-up was Ruth Anyan on 34 points.

The following week heralded Lady Captain’s Day, when a great fun day of golf was followed by a buffet lunch provided by the lady members.

The winning team was Di Warburton, Gill Gladwin and Ruth Anyan. The runners up were the team of Lis Marsland, Breege Owen and Noreen Bradford.

The month was rounded off with a friendly match at Retford.

Retford ladies gave the Owmby contingent a very warm welcome and it was a real fun day, with players from Owmby being paired up with a Retford member.

The winning pair were Di Newton, from Owmby, with her Retford partner Prue.
