Back on course as weather improves

MARKET Rasen lady golfers have been pleased to return to regular golfing competitions in better weather conditions.

On May 9, the Coronation foursomes took place, which was won by Ruth Anyan (27) and Gill Kent (22) with 32 points. Second place was taken by Kim Robinson (22) and Jenny Brundle (18) with 29 points and in third were Chris Bean (18) and Sue Archer (27) on 28 points.

The following week, the ladies contested the Taylor Trophy and this was won by Chris Bean with a nett score of 71, thus having her handicap reduced from 18 to 17. Geraldine Johnson took second place with a nett score 72 and she has also had her handicap reduced from 29 to 27.9. In third place was Sharman Scott (24) with nett 76.

Glorious sunny weather provided ideal conditions for the A M Chester (Professional’s) Prize, which saw 45 players entering this popular event. Glenys Cairney (30) scored an excellent 42 points to win the competition and Jane Salt (16) with 38 points in second place. Following a final nine hole countback, Helen Grinham (24) gained third place with 37 points from Sue Archer (27) also scoring 37.
