Win takes Rasen to top of league

THIS was a brilliant win which has sent the youngsters to the top of the League for the first time ever with only three games remaining for them.

Market Rasen soon went on the attack creating several chances with the Swifts’ keeper making excellent saves to keep the lads out.

Swifts only threatened very briefly with Finley Boyes in Rasen’s goal making two good saves.

After ten minutes Rasen went ahead when Greg Watson scored with a great shot.

Three minutes later Liam Jordan brilliantly lobbed the Swifts’ keeper from 20 yards, with the ball entering the net after hitting the top of the cross bar.

Two superb team moves created two further goals for George Balmer and Greg Watson to make it 0-4 at half time.

Rasen came out on the attack, with Greg Watson scoring his hat-trick three minutes into the second half.

Two minutes later, George Balmer scored his second and Rasen’s sixth after another great team move. Swifts started creating a few chances, but Rasen scored their seventh through Greg Watson for his fourth goal of the game.

Swifts finally pulled a goal back after hesitancy in the Rasen defence, but Rasen were unlucky with Joshua Jordan, Ben Flear twice and Greg Watson all hitting the Swifts’ woodwork.

Swifts’ goalkeeper made an excellent save from Oliver Adlam’s diving header.

Swifts scored two late goals to make the final score 3-7.

Man of the Match was Joshua Jordan for his excellent wing play.
