Under-nines up to second

North Lindum Hawks U9s 2

Market Rasen U9s 2

This was a very creditable result in icy conditions which takes the youngsters to second in the league and extends their unbeaten run to seven games.

The game kicked off with both teams playing end to end football, both creating chances, but due to the condition of the pitch, finding it hard to play the football that they are capable of.

North Lindum Hawks opened the scoring after ten minutes.

A lovely run from Callum Dean to the edge of the box culminated in a pass to George Balmer who finished with a great shot into the bottom corner to equalise for Rasen.

A pass from Rasen was intercepted by North Lindum Hawks’ striker, who hit a shot past Finley Boyes to put them 2-1 up at half time.

Rasen came out and played the better football in the second half creating several chances. The equaliser came from Greg Watson.

Man of the Match Finley Boyes made two great saves in the second half when North Lindum Hawks threatened on the counter attack, but Rasen had the last chance to win the game when Ben Flear made a great tackle and crossed to Callum Dean whose shot was just wide. Final score 2-2.

The next home game is on January 8 against third in the table, Greenbank, 10.45am kick off.
