Rasen stay top of the league

Market Rasen Under 9s 6 HBW 3

THIS was a brilliant team display, considering HBW had only lost one game all season and leaves Market Rasen in a very strong position at the top of the League with only two games remaining.

The game started with both teams on the attack and both creating half chances.

Rasen began to control the game after five minutes, with chances for Callum Dean, Greg Watson and Ben Flear.

After ten minutes, Rasen took the lead when Ben Flear took the ball off the hesitating HBW defenders and squared the ball for Greg Watson to drive into the net.

Rasen went 2-0 up after seventeen minutes, with Greg Watson finishing superbly after a good team move.

HBW pulled one back after twenty minutes with a good finish.

Man of the Match Greg Watson scored his hat-trick and Rasen’s third just before half time with a great lob over the goalkeeper. Then, on the stroke of half time, HBW pulled another goal back with a good finish, which Finley Boyes got his hand to but could not keep out the net.

The first ten minutes of the second half was fairly even, with Rasen having the better chances.

Midway through the half, Rasen scored three goals in six minutes, with a good George Balmer shot and two good goals from Callum Dean to put them 6-2 up.

Rasen were unlucky not to score more goals with Alex Rawden and Liam Jordan going close.

HBW grabbed their third just before full time.
